Mitchell's 15 year old friend Angela was killed in a tragic vehicle crash. Mitchell was deeply affected by the loss of her friend and wrote the song Angel to Angela on her debut album. The song was featured on the 7th Heaven Episode Nothing Endures But Change and in Chicken Soup for Preteen Soul she also talked about her experiences.
